Capcom considers Mega Man to be one of its most important franchises. The Japanese company confirmed this during its recent investor meeting, emphasizing that it is constantly looking for new strategies to revitalise this historic brand. However, despite these efforts, tangible results have been rather limited so far. The latest entry in the series, Mega Man 11, was released back in 2018, arriving after a long eight-year gap since the previous title.
Capcom stated during the meeting: “The Mega Man series is one of our most important intellectual properties, and we are constantly looking for ways to further develop it. However, at this time, we have no additional information to share.” According to official data, Mega Man 11 achieved very strong sales results. Overall, the franchise has reached the impressive milestone of 38 million units sold over its 36-year history, confirming its enduring popularity as one of Capcom’s most iconic brands.
“Although we do not disclose sales figures for each individual franchise, we receive a particularly high volume of requests regarding the Mega Man series from overseas markets. Therefore, we will continue to focus on expanding this business.”
