Yet another significant achievement for Danieli Group<\/strong>, a renowned global industrial machinery manufacturer boasting a century of excellence in the metals sector. Mexican steel company TYASA has engaged Danieli Group<\/strong>’s expertise to establish a 350,000 tons-per-year (tpy) SBQ rolling mill. This facility will take root in Ixtaczoquitlán, Veracruz state, Mexico, co-located with an existing production site responsible for churning out approximately 1.5 million tons per year of long and flat metal products.<\/p>\n

The plant will encompass an array of essential components, including a reheating furnace, a hot-rolling mill, inspection stations, conditioning and peeling lines, and a state-of-the-art water treatment facility. Its primary function will be the transformation of 140-mm square billets, as well as 180- and 310-mm round blooms, produced on-site, into a range of finished products.<\/p>\n

The SBQ rolling mill, nourished by a 70-tph walking-beam reheating furnace, comprises a shiftable-reversible break-down stand, 12 continuous housing-less stands, and a four-pass, four-roll sizing mill known as “The Drawer”. These components collectively ensure tolerances up to 1\/8 DIN for rounds, squares, and flats. The mill has been designed with provisions for implementing the in-line Low-Temperature Rolling (LTR) process. It will also incorporate a rake-type cooling bed equipped with pack-annealing capabilities, along with heat-retaining hoods that can be deployed as needed during the process. Comprehensive independent finishing facilities are also part of the setup.<\/p>\n

The mill’s product portfolio will encompass rounds ranging from 13 to 105 mm in diameter, flats spanning from 63 to 102 mm, and rebars ranging from 9.5 to 38 mm. These products will be available in bundles, with final lengths varying from 4-6 to 12 meters, catering to diverse applications in the automotive, construction, engineering, and energy sectors.<\/p>\n

The operational integrity of this facility will be upheld by Danieli Automation’s process control, instrumentation, and power systems. Furthermore, TYASA has opted for on-site training and advisory services as part of the comprehensive technological package. The upcoming plant, a strategic undertaking by Danieli Group<\/strong>, is slated to commence operations by the middle of 2025.<\/p>\n
