Pompeo Pontone: a career in finance and technology

Pompeo Pontone is an Accredited Investor & Investment Specialist in Capital Markets and Investment Management. Over time he has extended his expertise to Computer Science and Software Development.

He graduated with honours in Monetary and Financial Economics from Bocconi University in Milan, one of Europe’s most respected business schools. In 1998 he took his education abroad, earning a Master of Science in Quantitative Finance at Birkbeck College, University of London where he is currently pursuing a Master in Computer Science.

His professional life began in 1995 in London, where he worked as a research analyst at Stone & McCarthy Research Associates, an American firm with a presence in the British capital. A year later he moved back to Milan to join the research department of UniCredit as a fixed income analyst. There he contributed to several of the bank’s publications, including “The Italian Treasury Bond Guide” and “Investment Strategies: Financial Newsletter”. The late 1990s marked a shift from analysis to portfolio management. Pompeo Pontone relocated to Dublin as Vice President and Senior Fund Manager at Pioneer Investments, now part of Amundi-Pioneer, where he took direct responsibility for managing investment funds. In 1999 he joined Intesa Asset Management, today Eurizon, as Director and co-head of credit portfolios. Two years later he became Managing Director at Fineco Asset Management, leading the area of corporate bonds and credit derivatives.

Between 2002 and 2010 he returned to London as Managing Director and head of corporate bonds and credit derivatives proprietary trading at BMPS. He then led alternative investments and asset management at ALTIAM – Amstel Securities LLP until 2011, and in the following year worked as Senior Financial Advisor for Method Investments & Advisory Ltd.

From 2013 onward, Pompeo Pontone began to widen his horizons toward computer science and AI. He completed specialization programs in machine learning at Stanford University and in information security at the University of London, building technical credentials to match his financial expertise. In 2022 he founded PROMETEUS KC, a company focused on software development, SaaS solutions and cybersecurity. Two years later came MONACO BYTE LABS, dedicated to software development and consultancy. Today he serves as Co-Founder and Managing Partner of VIRAL-MENTE, a start-up operating at the crossroads of AI, software development and AI-driven digital marketing.
