Apple’s 2027 product shift: from the MacBook Neo to the Ultra line

Apple is reportedly orchestrating a major strategic shift for 2027, internalizing a product overhaul characterized by two distinct tiers: Neo for affordability and Ultra for peak innovation. According to industry analysts, the company aims to bridge the gap between traditional computing and modern interactivity. The second-generation MacBook Neo is expected to lead this charge, featuring a touchscreen display and a significant hardware boost – potentially utilizing the A19 Pro chip and 12 GB of memory – to compete directly with budget-friendly alternatives like Chromebooks.

On the high-end spectrum, the Ultra moniker is set to expand beyond smartwatches. Apple is developing a MacBook Ultra equipped with a premium OLED touchscreen and top-tier neural processors for professional workflows. Simultaneously, the long-awaited foldable device may finally debut as the iPhone Ultra, combining a flexible form factor with flagship-grade photography hardware. To complete this ecosystem, AirPods Ultra are rumored to feature integrated cameras designed to support advanced visual intelligence and Apple intelligence features.

This dual-track approach suggests that Apple is moving away from suffixes like “SE” in favor of the Neo branding for its entry-level catalog, including wearables. By diversifying its hardware with both tactile, budget-conscious laptops and cutting-edge foldable mobile tech, the Cupertino giant seeks to redefine its market dominance across every price point by late 2027.
