Dacia rumored to be secretly working on the new Stepway

Dacia, the Romanian company that is part of the Renault Group, has been thriving in recent years, with strong sales across Europe and particularly in Italy, where the company is known for its popular vehicles running on LPG. With a focus on producing affordable, durable, and no-frills vehicles, Dacia has carved out a niche for itself in the automotive market. This winning strategy looks set to continue with the upcoming launch of several new models, including the highly anticipated Dacia Stepway. While the new Dacia C-Neo, a station/crossover vehicle set to hit the market soon, has been generating buzz, there are also rumors of a new Stepway model in the works.

According to reports from the French automotive publication L’Argus, the Stepway 2.0 is expected to launch in 2027 as a B-SUV to compete with Renault’s Captur. The Stepway 2.0 is predicted to be around 4.15 meters long, featuring a sharp and angular design reminiscent of the new Duster model. With a horizontal hood and a bold grille, the Stepway 2.0 promises to exude character and style. Following in the footsteps of its Duster and Bigster siblings, it is likely to receive a warm reception from critics and consumers alike.

Internally, the Stepway 2.0 is expected to share components with the new Sandero, including a simple yet high-quality dashboard with a central touch screen or Media Control in the entry-level version. The vehicle will also offer ample storage space, with numerous compartments in the front and rear, as well as the innovative YouClip mounting system introduced in the Duster 3. In terms of engine options, the Stepway 2.0 will be available in a range of configurations. It will come equipped with a 120-horsepower LPG engine and the 1.2 Eco-G 12 V engine from the Duster 3 2026. Additionally, customers can expect a three-cylinder 1.2 TCe 115 hybrid engine with automatic transmission, as well as a 140-horsepower 48 V hybrid version. A full hybrid model boasting 170 horsepower is also in the cards, with the possibility of an all-electric version in the future, depending on market trends.

While pricing details have yet to be released, given Dacia’s reputation for offering affordable vehicles, it is likely that the Stepway 2.0 will be priced between 20,000 and 25,000 euros for the entry-level model. Nevertheless, customers can expect to get good value for money with the Stepway 2.0, combining style, performance, and affordability in one attractive package.
